The Challenge

We were tasked to explore different strategies and find the optimal solution for restroom ADA compliance at a new mall retail location in Malibu.

The designated bathroom facility for a new shop was located over 500 feet away, raising a potential concern regarding compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accessibility for customers with mobility limitations.

Solution

Vie came in to strategize. We conducted a thorough analysis of ADA regulations and their specific requirements for restroom accessibility in public accommodations like retail stores. We also evaluated the potential impact of the distant restroom location on customer satisfaction, particularly for those with disabilities. Finally, we acknowledged the limited space within the shop (300 square feet) and explored alternative solutions that wouldn't compromise the existing layout.
